Sonny Peters (Jason Peterson), who has also spun under the aliases of J-Sol and B-Fly Jones, is now returning to the DJ realm following a 2 year hiatus. After going to parties and clubs for years, it was the energy of the Tokyo nightlife that inspired him to step behind the turntables in 2000. He quickly created an alliance with other DJs, producers, artists, and dancers which lead to the founding of Groove Juggernaut Productions (GJP).
The crew started their "Solid Liquidations" parties on Thursday nights at Earth Sound Market. Known as B-Fly Jones at the earliest point in his DJ career, he held the Thursday night residency with other GJP members for nearly two years.
As the popularity of GJP grew, they came together with other groups to host and play events all over Tokyo. Combining their talents with the likes of the Tokyo Rave Organization Network (TRON), The OverDose Crew, and the well known DJ collective Backroom Boogie Crew (BBC) their demand grew. He eventually travelled and played clubs in Singapore and Australia.
Early in 2002 he returned to the United States and quickly got back into the mix with Logical Sound Development. He played numerous events around the state before taking a break from the public in 2006 to focus on other events going on in his life.
Always known for his wide variety of banging electronic mixes, privately Sonny Peters began to mingle with different styles. He returned to his first musical love; the subsoniq era of classic and underground hip hop. Since then his musical interests have branched even farther into the arenas of classic and rare soul, as well as funk, blues, and jazz. Nonetheless, he has never backed down from his true feeling about music, "Pop Music Is Not Music" and commercial radio is robbing society of great talent. Sonny Peters is a classic DJ who has not left the world of vinyl. With an immense collection of records from all over the world you can count on him to always have a motherload of gems in the crates.
